I’ve Said No To Many Marriage Proposals– Bimbo Akintola
Veteran Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola, has opened up about her personal life, revealing why she has turned down multiple marriage proposals despite being over 50.

In a candid conversation with actress Biola Bayo, Akintola, 52, explained that she refuses to marry simply because society expects it. Instead, she insists on waiting for a partner who truly aligns with her values and lifestyle.

According to the actress, remaining single doesn’t bother her as much as settling for the wrong partner would.

“For me not to have found my partner, the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, I don’t see it as a negative. I’ve been proposed to many times, and I’ve said no,” she revealed.

She went on to criticize the culture of rushing into marriages for the wrong reasons, noting that it often leads to broken homes and high divorce rates in Nigeria.

Akintola further emphasized the importance of raising both sons and daughters with the same sense of responsibility.

“Teach your sons that their body is the temple of God the same way you teach your daughters. As soon as you impregnate a girl, no more school for you, my dear. Go and work and raise your child,” she advised.

She argued that society often places heavier expectations on young women, while men escape accountability, a mindset she believes needs to change.

Focus Beyond Wealth in Relationships

On the issue of online harassment and women’s relationship choices, Akintola urged women to value men who are hardworking and growth-oriented, rather than chasing wealth alone.

“Don’t focus on rich men. Focus on men who are hardworking and ready to grow with you,” she said.

Choosing Peace Over Pressure

For Akintola, marriage is not a race or competition. Her decision to stay true to herself and reject societal pressure serves as a reminder that personal happiness and the right partner matter more than rushing into a union that could end in regrets.
