Guinness World Records confirms Hilda Baci as holder of largest jollof rice record

On September 12,  celebrity chef Hilda Baci set out to cook the largest serving of jollof rice in the world, with 200 bags of rice cooked in a custom made 22,619 litre pot. 

Today, she has officially been announced as the record holder for the largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice by the Guinness World Records, which shared a post on its X account, saying:
“New record: Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”

Labeled the ‘World Jollof Festival’, the affair saw thousands of people in attendance, including fans, celebrities, influencers, and the media, and garnered much buzz on social media. Attendees included the wife of the Governor of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, actress Funke Akindele, actor-musician Falz, actress Tomike Adeoye, and online personality Enioluwa Adeoluwa.

The feat lasted nine hours, and involved the use of carefully weighed ingredients, per the rules of the record, including 220 kg of seasoning cubes, 600 kg of Hilda’s jollof pepper mix, and 164 kg of fresh goat meat. The resulting dish yielded 16,600 plates of rice, which were shared with attendees.

This achievement comes three years after her previous record for the longest ever cookathon in 2023, which spanned 93 hours 11 minutes.
